The Program ‘Through the eyes of Woman’ was founded in 1998, fruit of an option made with the province of St Gabriel Chile in that era!
It is designed especially for women living in vulnerable situations in the second poorest area in Santiago., Chile, known as Cerro Navia.
It`s objective is to give human development, ecology, ecumenism/spiritual growth and is inclusive for all participants in that area. We recognize their great bravery, courage, very often lone mothers with very little, if any, support from the fathers, physically or financially.
The program facilitates skill development in preparation for entering the workforce, be it at home or external. Promoting female rights has resulted in empowering women to grow in many ways, discovering their capabilities and creativity, by being in solidarity with their female companions in similar situations, growth of personal dignity and for a more hopeful future for all.
The courses we offer include Hairdressing, Confectionery, computing, cocktails and banquets. Alternative medicine and dancing therapy. We also network with other groups who have similar options for vulnerable families in Cerro Navia.
Thanks to Apso, Ireland and Sr. Savio´s support we are grateful to observe over the years the growth of a deeper consciousness in the daily dynamics and relationships of these valiant women.

Well done! Venerable Mother Mary Joseph would be very proud of you!!

Dear Sisters,
Wow, I was surprised to see my name in this project. But Thank you. 27 years ago St Paul’s Province got involved with The Irish Government and Irish Missionary Union who supported Irish Missionaries abroad. Being the Province Bursar I was in a good position to reach out with this help to the Sisters on the Missions. I visited the projects and wrote reports and applied for funds. The Sisters did the ground work. Thank you for the experience it gave me. Best wishes to all the teams working to keep this project alive.
Savio CP
Sisters, that is something you can be proud of!
